NSAIDS may worsen the course of the illness, but there is inconclusive data. The WHO officially recommended against taking the medication (then took it back), but the article that reports this even notes that we aren’t sure, and the general consensus I’ve seen among physicians is that if it’s beneficial for our patients and they aren’t severely ill, they should continue their anti-inflammatory regimens unless they are particularly ill.
